4. What should a drug testing policy include?

5. Is it required that all of my employees be tested for drugs?

While most companies choose to include all employees, it is not necessary to test all employees. Some companies choose to implement program that test only for pre-employment and post-accident. Some companies fall under Federal drug testing regulations which are very specific as to who must be tested.

6. Which drugs will be tested for?

Typically, the most commonly abused drugs are tested. These include cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), opiates, amphetamines and cannabinoids (marijuana). In addition, Drug Free Works Associates can test for other categories of drugs.

7. How much will it cost to implement a drug testing program?

The cost of an effective drug testing program depends upon the specific needs of your company, the number of employees being tested, the frequency of testing, state requirements for certification of a Drug Free Workplace and other considerations.

8. How reliable are the drug tests?

On-site drug screening devices are equal in accuracy at 99.94% to wet chemistry drug screening performed in laboratories. At any rate, when a non-negative drug screen is obtained, it is then confirmed by state-of-the-art Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrophotometry (GC/MS) at a SAMHSA certified laboratory.
